History

Our name has become synonymous with information security and the recovery of corrupted data.

Our data recovery business began in 1989, in the year that a vital data storage unit in the Public Prosecutor’s office crashed, causing severe headaches for everyone concerned, except, probably, for those who had caused the problem. After forty days of intense work, we succeeded in recovering and restoring the lost data and passing the headaches back to the guilty employees, who deserved to have sore heads.

Experts from at least half a dozen different professions were involved in solving the problem. Professionals from the fields of precision mechanics, surgery, electronics, data and transfer technology, as well as from the world of software, operating systems and applications all worked together to achieve our final success.

We can't help but smile when we think back to the circumstances of our first operation. Since then the world of computing has changed enormously and so, of course, has the environment in which we operate.

At first, we aimed simply to repair computing devices. This was a logical decision since our staff were engineers with previous experience at KFKI, MOM and EMG. To broaden our horizons we looked to development, manufacture, fine-tuning, and then on to further development. However, manufacture was beyond our reach, as it was beyond the reach of even some of the largest Hungarian companies at the time.

What remained was the challenge of creating assets without actually manufacturing, a challenge which seemed like putting a square peg into a round hole. However what we did have confidence in was our wealth of specialist knowledge. So we began our operations by repairing hard disks and floppy disk drives, meeting and solving fresh challenges every day. Our primary objective was to capitalise on our successes and survive, and learn from our failures. As our business expanded, we changed and adapted continuously in line with the needs of our clients, and even today we are constantly developing the new concepts that will enable us to remain at the forefront of the industry in the years to come.

Our current focus is the limitation of damage caused by IT disasters (data recovery), and the prevention of IT malfunctions wherever possible. Our disaster prevention system, known as ISyS®, comprises a package of over 40 products, which can also be used individually.

KÜRT has been active on the Hungarian data recovery and information security market for the past 17 years. Our most exciting initiative in recent years has been the launch of two subsidiary companies abroad.

Early in 2003, KUERT Datenrettung Deutchland opened in Germany, in 2004 KUERT Information Management was founded in Austria and in 2007 we expanded into the Middle Eastern market with the establishment of Kurt Information Security in the UAE
